Bishop Michael Henderson is a native of Annapolis, Maryland. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired from the military in August 1998, after serving his country for over 20 years. He is currently serving as the presiding prelate of the New Life Body of Christ Christian Church ministries, and is the full-time pastor of the headquarters church in Wahiawa, Hawaii.
While assigned to South Korea, Pastor Henderson heeded to God’s call and began teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Upon returning from Korea, Bishop Henderson resided in Hinesville, Georgia and was very active in the nursing home ministry, barracks bible study, church newsletter, church administration and finance, Sunday school and bible study departments and various appreciation committees.
In August 1995, God sent Bishop Henderson to Hawaii. He spent his first year on the island without his family, and in June 1996 accepted the office of pastor at the New Life Body of Christ Church in Wahiawa, and his family joined him here on the island of Oahu.
He accepted his greatest calling from God in November 2001, when he was consecrated by the late Dr. Dennis Welch to the office of Bishop. He and his wife are committed to God, the gospel, their family and God’s people.
Bishop Henderson also oversees the New Life Body of Christ Christian Church in Kingsland, Georgia, under the leadership of Pastor & 1st Lady Pettus and Finding Your Way Back Outreach Ministry in Fort Worth, Texas under the leadership of Pastor and 1st Lady Longmiles.
He has received degrees of completion as a graduate of Biblical Studies, Advanced Studies in Prophecy, Healthy Sexuality, Caring for People God’s Way I and II, Marriage Works, Stress and Trauma with emphasis on PTSD, Caring for Teens God's Way, Caring for Kids God's Way, Extraordinary Women, a diploma in Biblical Counseling and is a Board Certified Biblical Counselor with the Board of Christian Professional and Pastoral Counselors. Bishop Henderson is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors, President of the Wahiawa Minister’s Association from 2009 to 2015, former President of the Wahiawa Community Based Development Organization, member of the Wahiawa Business Association, Wahiawa General Hospital Board of Directors, Wahiawa General Hospital Association, Disabled Veteran’s Association and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, Ministerial Advisor for the African American Diversity Cultural Center of Hawaii (AADCCH) and was selected as an honorary member of the Heritage Registry of Who’s Who, and received the Leadership Achievement Award from the Hawaii Chapter of the NAACP. In 2015 he began working closely with State Representative Marcus Oshiro from Wahiawa concerning the homeless situation on Oahu.
Bishop Henderson is married to Cathie Henderson, and has two children Brandon and Stephanie who both reside in Hawaii.
